It was fantastic to welcome the Prime Minister to the Drewe Arms here in Central Devon.
The Drewe Arms is a community pub with a fascinating back story, and is only in operation today because of the hard work and dedication of local volunteers.
When the Drewe Arms closed in 2022, a group of locals came together to form a community benefit society in the hope of purchasing the pub.
The mission was a success and over 600 people became shareholders, raising enough money for the pub to be bought and refurbished.
I visited last month to see the new and improved Drewe Arms in all its glory and was so impressed that I invited the Prime Minister to drop in for a pint and a catch up with the team.
